SECAUCUS, NJ (December 13, 2011) – Panasonic System Networks Company of America has enhanced the intelligent functionality of the i-PRO SmartHD WJ-NV200 Network Disk Recorder with an expansion kit that adds age and gender estimation, visitor counting, and other functions to the NVR's embedded face matching technology. The i-PRO SmartHD WJ-NVF20 advanced intelligence expansion kit enables new security and business management functionality to be added to installed WJ-NV200 recorders using a firmware update based on an installation key number. In new deployments, the combination of the WJ-NV200 NVR and WJ-NVF20 expansion kit offers a powerful range of intelligent video functionality at a cost roughly equivalent to competitors' standard 16-input DVRs or NVRs. --continued

Effective Troubleshooting

Personally I’d like to tell you that you’re either born with the knack of troubleshooting or you’re not, but that’s not true. In fact, good troubleshooting skills begins with a good education in electronics, which will invariably require a fair amount of bench time.

Average life of reactors in the U.S. is 30 years

The NRC has renewed the licenses of 62 reactors, 17 of which have the Mark 1 design. The original licenses were for 40 years and the renewals for another 20 years.Most of the nuclear plants in the U.S. were built in the 1980s, which makes the average age of reactors at 30 years old.(continued)

Smartec released 32ch DVRs with MPEG-4, Full D1 resolution and free VMS software

Smartec STR-3293 32ch video recorder is designed to deploy local or distributed video surveillance systems. It features 250GB SATA HDD for recording video archives, and also has slots for 3 additional hard drives. In addition, this device can operate with external disk arrays totaling up to 30 TB. New Smartec DVR provides video recording in MPEG-4 with up to Full D1 resolution at up to 800 fps. Each 32ch DVR has DVD-RW, 4 audio channels, motion detection, 16 alarm inputs and 4 outputs as well as RS-232/485 interfaces for PTZ-cameras operation control. Video recorder is also equipped with 4 independent monitor outputs, so the operator can organize 4 independent video monitoring posts. For remote video monitoring and STR-3293 operation control over the network new recorder is bundled with professional VMS software.

New Smartec STM-190 monitor is equipped with 19” LCD-panel with 1280x1024 pix. resolution and is designed to operate in analog or network security systems. It features 160° viewing angle, 5 ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 250 cd/sq m of brightness.
