Effective Troubleshooting
“Simplicity” and “organization” are two extremely important elements
associated with the effective troubleshooting of alarms and other
low-voltage systems. Personally I’d like to tell you that you’re either
born with the knack of troubleshooting or you’re not, but that’s not
true. In fact, good troubleshooting skills begins with a good education
in electronics, which will invariably require a fair amount of bench
time.

Azarell writes "Smartec STR-3293 32ch video recorder is designed to deploy local or distributed video surveillance systems. It features 250GB SATA HDD for recording video archives, and also has slots for 3 additional hard drives. In addition, this device can operate with external disk arrays totaling up to 30 TB. New Smartec DVR provides video recording in MPEG-4 with up to Full D1 resolution at up to 800 fps. NFPA Journal marks 100th anniversary of Triangle fire
Lessons still to be learned from fire that prompted creation of Life Safety Code
March 3, 2011 – The March/April 2011 issue of NFPA Journal®, the official magazine of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is now available. This issue focuses on the Triangle Waist Co. fire of 1911 and factory fire safety in the hundred years since in the cover story, The Triangle Fire, 100 Years Later. It is the largest accidental industrial building fire in U.S. history and at the time prompted NFPA to create the Committee on Life Safety, which developed a fire safety code to address building exits and was the precursor to today’s widely-used Life Safety Code®.

Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Community Meeting, 1 – 2 December 2010, London
On the evening of the 26th March 2010 an explosion on board the ROKS
Cheonan, a Pohang-Class corvette, ripped through the rear of the ship.
This resulted in the ship breaking in two and at 21:20 local time the
ship sank about 1 nautical mile off the south-west coast of Baengnyeong
Island in the Yellow Sea. The ship went under with the loss of 46 hands.
Later investigations since the incident have revealed damage on the
ship indicating the involvement of a North Korean CHT-02D torpedo,
strongly indicating the involvement of a North Korean submarine.
