ESA supports repeal measure currently pending in Congress

Irving Texas (August 11, 2010) –
The Electronic Security Association (ESA) is urging the U.S. House of Representatives to pass H.R. 5141, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act before the end of this session in Congress.

H.R. 5141 would repeal Section 9006 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the health care bill) which requires data collection and information filing on virtually all business-to-business transactions of $600 or more. Without the passage of H.R. 5141, this burdensome paperwork mandate will become effective in 2012.

  FBI MS-13 Gang Member Sentenced to Death

MS-13 Gang Member Sentenced to Death After Conviction on Racketeering Charges Related to Double Murders

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 27, 2010) — Chief U.S. District Judge Robert J. Conrad, Jr. today formally imposed the federal death penalty sentence on Alejandro Enrique Ramirez Umana, aka “Wizard,” announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney Anne M. Tompkins of the Western District of North Carolina. A 12-person federal jury in Charlotte voted unanimously on April 28, 2010 to impose the death penalty against Umana after having convicted him on April 19, 2010 on charges related to the murders of Ruben Garcia Salinas and his brother, Manuel Garcia Salinas, on December 8, 2007. Umana is the first MS-13 member in the country to receive the death penalty.

Pearl River, NY (July 15, 2010) − School District 51, Mesa County Valley, in Grand Junction, Colorado, first began using OnSSI's open-architecture, intelligent IP-based video surveillance software five years ago in a test system incorporating 25 cameras at a single middle school. July 29, 2010 (Louisville, Ky.) -- Greening Our Schools: A State Legislator’s Guide to Best Policy Practices debuted this week at the National Conference of State Legislatures’ annual Legislative Summit.   Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), this first-of-its-kind toolkit on green schools is a comprehensive guide for state lawmakers who are developing policy solutions that improve the health, productivity, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility of schools in their state. The toolkit is a product of USGBC’s 50 for 50 Green Schools Caucus Initiative and sponsored by the Turner Foundation.
