Mike Baker

Mike Baker began working as a part-time instructor of electrical apprenticeship classes in 1997 at Clackamas Community College and then in 2002 accepted the position of Training Director for the Automatic Fire Alarm Association. As Training Director, Michael develops building code and fire alarm seminars and presents them in approximately 40 different cities throughout the USA every year.

Michael is an Oregon Journeyman Limited Energy Electrician, a Master Specialty Electrician in Washington, and NICET certified level IV in Fire Alarm Systems. He is a member of the NFPA 72 Chapter 5 (Initiating Devices) technical committee. Michael has written several NICET test preparation handbooks and he edits the ETNEWS.org website and newsletter.

He is married with six children, one grandchild (more on their way), and lives in Gladstone, Oregon.

Al Colombo

Al Colombo is an award winning trade journalist and book author in the electronic and physical security and life safety markets. He also is Director of U.S. Veteran Information (non-governmental) and owner of Thunder Promotions.

Al Colombo also holds the fulltime position of Operations Manager with Abbott Fire & Security in Canton, Ohio. Prior to this he held the position of project manager with ProTech Security in North Canton, Ohio.

Colombo has held certification since 1977 with the State of Ohio Fire Marshal's office (#54 76 1200) for fire detection systems and fire extinguishers. He is also a crime prevention practitioner and he holds an Amateur Radio License, Technician - KC80CV.

Nick Markowitz

Nick Markowitz is a broadcast engineer for WAVL, a 5,000 Watt radio station in Pennsylvania. He also is an arson investigator, professional witness, firefighter, technical writer, electrician, and a fire alarm technician.

Nick is engaged in various electrical and electronic activities that focus on troubleshooting and integration services for commercial, industrial clients as well as nonprofit organizations.

Mike Sokoly

Mike Sokoly of Long Island, N.Y., is currently Moderator of the "Fire Alarm Systems," "Business Administration," and Co-Moderator of the "Electrical Safety" Forums on FireNetOnline BBS. In addition he is a recognized fire and security "expert" at mikeholt.com and NECcode.com.

Mike is a licensed security and fire alarm installer in the State of New York as well as a registered and certified New York State Alarm Instructor. He is a fully licensed and permanently certified New York Department of Education Proprietary Trade School Teacher. He has instructed and graduated well over 500 students who have gone on to take the New York State Security and Fire Alarm Licensure Exam.

Sokoly is an on-call instructor for Electrical Training Center's other Classes in: Apprentice Electrician, Master Electrician, Voice Data and Video, 1 and 2 Family Dwelling Codes, Blueprint Reading and Business Management Courses.
