How can we teach history or even learn from history if all the concepts and ideas that framed our society over the years cannot even be argued? ~~ (Editor)

Dec. 5 - Speaking at a 100th birthday party for retiring Sen. Strom Thurmond, R-S.C., Lott says his state was "proud" to have voted for Thurmond's presidential bid in 1948. |
The fact that Senator Trent Lott decided to step aside (for the good of the party?) so that a new Republican leader can step up to the podium, may or may not be a good thing. But it is most certainly a tragic event in our nation’s history when our politically correct minorities and media have gained so much power that even our right to FREEDOM of SPEECH must be curtailed so that their political agenda can prevail!
As a matter of fact, this goes way beyond our Freedom of Speech, which incidently, has been methodically stripped away over the last four decades as the far-left have commandeered our legislature, school systems, and news media. The Trent Lott incident has demonstrated the extent of power and control the politically correct have been allowed to gain in order to manipulate the rest of us.
Freedom of Speech? Forget it! ... Freedom of THOUGHT? All but GONE!
If you remember when the fertilizer first hit the fan after Mr. Lott’s attempt to patronize 100-year-old Sen. Strom Thurmond at his birthday celebration, it was actually nothing that Lott said that got everyone in such a furor. It was the implied THOUGHT of the word, SEGREGATION, that set off the firestorm of criticism from the “black caucus” and other left-wing Democrats. This fire was then fueled by an eager and willing news media, with the hope that further damage could be dealt out to Trent Lott and the Republican party, in general.
Yes. It has come to the point in our society that an implied THOUGHT is more than enough to condemn and convict you of a “hate crime!” We now have historical topics that are so taboo, that an open and honest discussion of them is not permitted! The mere “concept” of segregation can not even be brought to mind any more! The league of the politically correct now have their thought police, who will force you to retract any unpopular statement you may have made. Then they will “encourage” you to RE-THINK the matter so that you may CONFORM to their way of thinking!
How can we teach history or even learn from history if all the concepts and ideas that framed our society over the years cannot even be argued?
Okay... I’ll accept the concept that total segregation of the races would be harmful to our society.
But TOTAL FORCED INTEGRATION by the government is just as harmful and non-productive for America. A perfect example of this was FORCED BUSING for “equality” in education. What a failure that turned out to be.
Ooops... I just had another thought. Sorry about that!
