My View 1
Where Am I Coming From?
Feb. 04, 2000
When anyone gets involved with a specific cause or ism, this
question always pops up-- where are you coming from?
Maybe I should first relate to you where I came from.
Being born in Stark County, Ohio and completing grade school
and high school during the 1940's and 50's, I became aware of
the beginning of the falling away from our American moral and
patriotic values during the mid-1960's and on through the 70's,
80,'s, and continuing through the present decade.
Although the Massillon/Canton, Ohio area is, and always was,
the hot-bed of high school football, and has been accounted as
the oldest and biggest high school rivalry in the U.S., there
was no doubt when I was growing up that our first allegiance
was to God and country.
Both towns were deeply committed to their football programs,
which was evident by the school flags and banners displayed on
all store fronts. The rallies and parades that preceded the
"big game" rivaled a modern Disney production, but come Sunday,
you would find those same football fans and team members in
church.
Back in those days, when a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine
was home on leave, they were treated as heros. Then came the
60's and the Vietnam war. Suddenly, the sub-culture of the
left appeared as the "flower children" and "love children"
and "hippies." The college campuses soon were overwhelmed with
war protestors and socialist organizers. Many maintained their
student status until their local draft board caught up with
them. Then, a great number of them fled the country to avoid
serving in the Military. Those who remained on campus continued
to parade before the news cameras with their protest signs-- with
keywords such as "make love, not war" and "peace."
But how hypocritical were their accusations against our
fighting men and women when the hippy culture branded them as
"baby killers." Imagine that-- those same communist activists
who proclaimed love and peace in the 1960's, and accused our
military personnel of being baby killers, are now the pro-
abortionists of the 1990's, who are responsible for millions
of deaths of unborn children!
During my active duty in the Air Force, reserve duty in the Air
National Guard, and through several career fields covering a
broad range of vocations, I have learned something about
responsibility and citizenship that coincides with, rather than
contradicts the Judeo/Christian teachings our nation was
founded upon.
The "new morality," with its feel-good, environmentalist,
socialist, itinerary is backed with an abundance of lobby
groups, with the American Civil Liberties Union and a whole
company of liberal lawyers and judges leading their charge.
It appears that their pretense that absolute values of right
and wrong are now obsolete has taken hold of our entire
society.
I, for one don't buy it. I resent and object to the way [our]
so called "Moral Majority" has rolled over and played dead,
permitting the enemies of our society to institute their
falsehoods and vile morals into our schools, churches, and
our government. I also resent the fact that I have been lied
to by our elected officials of both major political parties.
I feel betrayed by those politicians who campaigned on a
conservative platform, only to cave-in to the pressure from
the left-biased news media and a morally corrupt resident of
the White House.
We have had pro-choice and gun control agendas forced down
our throats for the past two decades. The party majority of
the U.S. Senate and House seems to have very little effect
on the outcome of legislation. The fact that our basic moral
principals based upon the Bible and Torah, of which our nation
was founded, have been abandoned can no longer be ignored. It
has become apparent that both the Republicans and Democrats
we have elected have chosen to yield to the slanted surveys
and polls rather than listen to "We The People" who have put
them in power.
It is on this axiom that we present this Web site. Whether or
not it will grow into a new conservative lobby group is not
our primary concern. What we hope to accomplish is the
inspiration for others who share in our perception of the
current political situation, and to encourage them to continue
to do whatever they can to pass along the truth to as many
neighbors and friends as they can.
All of us could write a few more letters to our elected
officials, newspapers, radio, and TV stations just to let them
know that "We The People" are still alive and well.
We are always open to comments and suggestions as to how we can
better serve our God and our nation. It is also our intent to
publish many of the E-mail responses and letters from our
viewers, and we would like to hear from our elected officials
as well.
Our Web page is offered purely as a sounding board for those
who want to present their views on current events or just
want to vent some steam about proposed or enacted legislation.
However, let it be known that in keeping with our core
objective to promote Judeo/Christian family values, we will
not reply to or post any communications containing obscene or
lewd language. Neither will we accept rhetoric that maligns or
ridicules a person because of their race, gender, or religious
affiliation.
In the service of God and the United States of America.
