ALABAMA
Another assault against the culture and heritage of the South is currently taking place.
A 'legal" objection to the Alabama state slogan, "The Heart Of Dixie," has been taken up by Alabama State University professor, Karen Taylor.
An April 18 Fox News story related that Ms Taylor, who is black, has admitted to defacing her auto license plate for the last ten years by covering up the word "Dixie" with a piece of tape because she relates it to a "racist" song. The Alabama Criminal Justice professor got away with it until stopped by a police officer for going 51-mph in a 35-mph speed zone. When the officer noticed the disfigured license tag, he issued an additional citation for that offense, as it was his legal responsibility to do so.
Although Ms Taylor paid the $118 fine for speeding, she has been fighting the license tag violation. Her day in court for this offense has been postponed until August. The case should receive some media coverage, but not the kind you and I may be hoping for.
The Fox News television spot on this story carried comments by another black activist in addition to Taylors slanted opinion. Two Alabama officials, who although were well educated in the laws of the state, were only allowed a few brief moments on camera as they tried to convey the history of the state slogan, and why it became law to have it posted on license tags.
Alabama had already compromised on the issue by reducing the size of the "Heart of Dixie" text on the top center of the tag down to a minuscule sized text contained within a small heart at the bottom of the tag. But according to Taylor and her cronies, that is not good enough. They want the word "Dixie" completely removed.
As more-and-more trivial civil rights and discrimination cases have come to light, in both the Northern and the Southern states, it appears to me that the legislators and our nations courts have been continually giving way to pressures from the political left, as they fall in line with the trend of political correctness that has contaminated our modern society.
Other than the state of Mississippi, which had the legislative guts to take its Confederate flag / state flag issue to the VOTING PUBLIC,
the rest of the Southern states appear to be folding in the face of liberalism.
The Mississippi voters, by the way, enforced their rights last year by a two-to-one margin, to maintain the cultural heritage of the old South by keeping the Confederate symbol on their flag.
An April 19, 2001 landslide ballot victory in Mississippi insures the preservation of the State's flag, featuring the Confederate (stars and bars) emblem, and is a clear indication that the opinion of the general public is NOT in step with the mass news media and its liberal political mentors.
It would seem that whatever is of value to the conservatives in this country is being gradually, but methodically, trampled under by the new world order (NWO) radicals. These radicals have been allowed by our very permissive and sleeping majority, to completely take over. They have taken over our LEGACY and the way we TEACH it and the way we are allowed to REMEMBER it.
The liberals always say that this has become a "diverse" society, and that we must all work together to accept each other's cultural differences... unless, of course, those differences are of a conservative point of view!
It is sad to see the day approaching where the true historical culture of America will be completely eradicated or replaced with globalist propaganda. I had hoped to see the proud heritage of our Southern states maintained to a degree that when a family from one of the other states would visit the South, to take in some of its many historic sites, that the complete story of its culture could still be told.
But I guess those days are gone forever... WHAT A SHAME!
