After all these years, some of the truth of the McCarthy era is being sifted through to the

A May 8 News item from
NewsMax especially caught my eye because a friend and I had recently
exchanged e-mails in discussion of the rather turbulent U.S. Senate hearings conducted
by Sen. Joseph McCarthy during the 1950’s.
Anyone old enough to remember, or a student of history, may have come away with the
impression that Sen. McCarthy was merely engaged in a witch hunt as he attempted to
expose well-known public figures and Hollywood types who were involved in various
capacities with the Communist Party. Up till now, the news media and liberal historians
have labeled Sen. McCarthy as a right-wing extremist, nut case.
Well... as things are turning out, old Joe might have been right after all. It’s just another
case of someone being ahead of their time.
In the NewsMax online news story referred to above, the author points out that recently
released transcripts of the hearings are beginning to shed more light on what had really
taken place back then. One specific case involved atomic scientist J. Robert
Oppenheimer, and his little penchant for sharing nuclear secrets with the Soviet Union.
Testimony detrimental to Mr. Oppenheimer was provided by a top functionary of the
Communist Party, Paul Crouch, who broke from the Reds and testified that he had
attended a closed Communist Party meeting with Oppenheimer. But it was our own Justice Dept. that “previously barred Crouch and his wife from testifying at a perjury trial
of another scientist for fear that in so doing, he would end up exposing Oppenheimer.”
Other documents are surfacing now that seem to prove that a complex Communist
conspiracy did exist during the McCarthy era.
Apparently the media and Hollywood were already knee-deep into the mire of the
communist party back in the 1940's and 1950's, and by the 1970's, they had sunk to much
greater depths. Their obvious goal was to drag the rest of us down the pathways of
perversion.
They (the communists) sure had the way paved for them, however. With the outrage over
Hitler and fascism still burning in the hearts of most Americans, we were all too forgiving
of the evils of the opposite party.
The price of a movie ticket was always so cheap that even back in the hard times of the
thirties, my parents (according to a personal diary) went to the movies quite frequently.
By the 1940's and 50's, the Communists had a literal stage, via the movie screen, to very
subtlety add their leftist slant to many of the story-lines so that the public did not even
realize they were being indoctrinated. We apparently were equally blind-sided by the
news media back then. And in my estimation, the sometimes less than subtle liberal
media bias continues today.
It's so sad that as America turned to a more relaxed, fun-loving life style as a relief after
WWII, that we didn't keep our guard up as to the communist influence, and it's ways of
distracting us from the very principals of God and Christ whereby our nation was
founded. It seems that we have fallen for a pack of lies, and have forgotten the TRUTH
along the way.
After all these years, some of the truth of the McCarthy era is being sifted through to the
surface. For this, I am glad. Now let us pray for a literary cleansing to take place within
our mass media and Congress.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." -- John 8:32
This is the TRUTH that made us free, and this is the ONLY truth that can KEEP us free!
Do you think that it may be just a coincidence that these truths are just now surfacing
when we have a Republican President and a Republican-controlled Congress?
Just a thought...
