Terri Schiavo
Somewhere in between the rival families, the political posturing, and the spin of the news media, the truth as related to the Terri Schiavo tragedy being played out in Florida may some day be revealed. But no matter which side you are on, the obvious suffering she has endured over the past fifteen years cannot be denied. But her sentence of DEATH BY STARVATION goes beyond all limits of cruelty that our law should allow upon human or beast. Even a convicted murderer who’s numerous appeals through the legal system have failed, does not face such a horrible death. Why are our judges and lawyers so fiercely pursuing this hideous death to be administered to this innocent physically afflicted woman? Why haven’t our more staunch leaders come forward in the past, before her state became such a crisis?

But he and others in authority appeared to be too fearful to stand up to our murderous Nazi state and federal judges, then, and now! If Terri is allowed to die in this manner, we will have lost ONE VERY PRECIOUS LIFE, and a critical CONSTITUTIONAL BATTLE that could be the turning point as to our total surrender of our legal rights and legislative powers to a corrupt and evil judicial system!
Now that the radical left knows that it can defeat the President, our governors and all the American people who hold a Christian or conservative view, we are now going to suffer under judicial tyranny. Our legislative and executive branches of government have now been castrated by an out-of-control judicial branch. Our votes no longer count and our appeals now fall on deaf ears!
But why does it seem that our prayers also fell on deaf ears? As one who has received answers to my own prayers dealing with many personal needs and healings, and witnessed outright miracles with others, my ‘personal faith’ is not shaken. I still believe in our Lord and in His Word.. But what has happened here in the case of Terri Schiavo, and the masses who offered prayers on her behalf?
Have Americans so neglected their walk with the Lord and failed to heed His Words that our prayers are no longer answered? Although I doubt that God has completely written-off our nation, He has many a reason to do so. The census and polls list millions of people who call themselves Christians, but how many are dedicated ‘down-on-their-knees’ prayerful Christians?
Apparently not enough any more to pull this nation out of its sinful nature. With as many people praying, who claimed to be praying for Ms Schiavo, her rescue from her hospice prison should have been immediate. But as of this writing, those prayers have not been answered. Is God merely testing Terri or lifting her up to be martyred? Could God be using her crisis to expose us for who we really are? He has most certainly exposed our liberal judges and politicians for who and what they really are.
As in the tragic case of Terri Schiavo, our only true salvation will be when we pass from this cruel mortal life into that most perfect righteous life with our Lord... but as a nation, we have not held to the precepts of our professed faith. We have been all too willing to “wink” at the sinful nature of the activities surrounding us. We have become way too comfortable with the increasing foul language and explicit sex thrown at us from our TV sets and movies. We only attend church when it is convenient or when there is a special program or guest entertainer or speaker we want to see. Maybe the pro-gay, pro-sin factions of our society and our government are what we deserve. God’s Ten Commandments have been removed from our government and public buildings, all Christian/religious symbols must now be removed from many of our age-old state and local banners and logos, and God’s children are forbidden to speak to Him or even write about Him in public school.
I would pray that since this drama of heartbreak and hope has come to light during the Easter season, that we will be prompted to direct our thoughts to someone else who was tortured and killed by a corrupt legal system. An innocent man who was destined at birth to become the sacrificial lamb to cover for the sins of all mankind. In case you have forgotten, His name is Jesus, the resurrected King of Kings.
I suspect that by the time that most of you read this commentary, that Terri Schiavo will have found her own resurrection, and gone home to be with her Lord. And for Terri, this finally will be a glorious beginning rather than a tragic ending. And how fitting it is for her as the events have unfolded, that today being the Holy day of Good Friday, that she is likely to pass on to her home in heaven. Like that famous poem written in honor of the United States Marine Corps., Terri most certainly will find herself in heaven because she has already spent her “time in hell.”
If there is to be no other purpose for the horrible suffering of Terri Schiavo, it will be to draw the attention of every American to the moral and constitutional crisis we are facing.
