TREASON BY LEGISLATION!
What Were They Thinking?

All too often, when I read the news reports of what transpires within the walls of Congress, I am prompted to ask myself, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
Dateline: Tues. 03/12/02:
In a vote of 275-138, The House of Representatives enacted a law that will GRANT AMNESTY TO MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES!
It was bad enough back in 1996 when Congress passed the Legal Immigrant Family Equity Act, which amended the U.S. immigration laws in order to allow ILLEGAL aliens to apply to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) for an "adjustment of status."
Yes... this is the same INS that exactly SIX MONTHS AFTER the 9/11 SUICIDE ATTACK, completed the visa paper work on two of the TERRORISTS that flew into the Trade Center Towers in NYC!
Nice job by the INS... right?
We were supposed to welcome (with open arms) foreigners who had; ENTERED THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY, WORKED HERE ILLEGALLY, FAILED TO MAINTAIN
LAWFUL STATUS, or entered the U.S.A. as FOREIGN CREWMEN or travelers IN
TRANSIT WITHOUT A VISA!
Fortunately, the U.S. got a short reprieve from this fatuous law when it expired, and illegal aliens wanting to remain here permanently had to first return to their home country and apply for a visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate there.
But now, in their infinite wisdom, our federal legislators have again put America in peril by allowing a multitude of potentially dangerous foreigners to reside here!
At a time when all our legislators and governors had promised to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to keep America safe from terrorism, they show their true colors by enacting such a negligent and careless law!
All hopes of our President stepping forward to veto this bill are dashed by the fact that George W. Bush is giving his full support to the bill in order to appease Mexican President Fox during their talks later this month. Word has it that Mexico wants a better "immigration agreement."
Why should we care about what Mexico wants? We have our own homeland to DEFEND!
In past editorials, I have been openly critical of the Clinton administration for its apparent disregard for homeland security and the very sovereignty of our nation. And I had great expectations that the Bush administration would correct some of the former President's political errors, which in many instances, has by overturning previous "Executive Orders" with the issuing of his own.
However, if President Bush and our Congress continue with such dangerous legislation, many doubts are raised as to their order of priorities.
As most Americans have taken heed to our President's encouragement after the 9/11 tragedies, and are returning to our more normal pace of work and travel, it would seem more fitting for the highest office of the land and our Congressional leaders to put forth a little more effort to maintain our confidence in their leadership.
Under present conditions, it would be much more prudent for our government to completely shut down
foreign immigration rather than open our doors even wider. In the days of our grand parents and great grand parents, the majority of European immigrants had something positive to offer this nation. Many were tradesmen and skilled laborers. Others were bankers, doctors, or scientists.
Today, the majority of immigrants either come here with a get-rich-quick attitude or to take advantage of our welfare system and overly generous student loan programs. By clever design, many foreign governments find the U.S.A. to be a very handy outlet to deposit their hardened criminals and organized gangs. It's no wonder that we were totally caught off guard on September 11.
AMERICA HAS BECOME A HAVEN FOR TERRORISTS!
Politics and statesmanship are greatly important in maintaining our United States government, but not to the extreme that our HOMELAND SECURITY should suffer!
If "We The People" are willing to face the reality of terrorism within our borders, our leaders had better face up to these facts before we lose the WAR on terrorism.
IF WE LOSE THIS WAR, THERE WILL NO LONGER BE AN AMERICA TO DEFEND!
May God grant us (U.S.) WISDOM!
