Depiction of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane above the Gothic wood altar.

Martin Luther Lutheran Church was organized on June 16, 1893. It is the English-speaking daughter of the German Evangelical Lutheran Jerusalem Church, which is now known as First Lutheran Church of Canton. The current building was constructed in 1920 in the English Gothic style.

Of architectural significance are the hand-carved wooden screen at the rear of the nave, the large rear stained glass window with scenes from the life of Jesus and a portrait of the reformer Martin Luther. Also of interest are the Apostles' Window in the choir and the depiction of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane above the Gothic wood altar.

Martin Luther Church is a moderate size, family oriented congregation dedicated to Biblical Study, preaching and service to the community.
